The copyright dates are NOT published in the books, nor is the name of the designer(or designers). The copyright dates were gotten from the Tennyson Library of Crochet & Related Arts who got them from the United States Catalog of Copyright Entries. Someone did some excellent digging for the rest of us. Thank you! The 1st and 2nd booklet are definitely copyright free now, and the other three are very likely to be copyright free but I have not confirmed that yet. I'm very pleased to be able to provide reviews for all five of their books. Enthusiastic thanks to Becky Clark for filling in books 2 and 4! If there are more books Mr Bradley published that I'm unaware of, please drop me a note and let me know about them. I'm mystified why he'd sell a tatting shuttle (for example), but not sell any tatting books - so maybe I've missed something...
http://shoptalk.vintageknitcrochet.net/2015/03/abc-book-of-crocheted-edges-by-asmus.html also did some digging and discovered that the Asmus Bradley Co. was run by Charles E Bradley, who rented the fifth floor of a building at 208 W Monroe in Chicago, Illinois. She couldn't find a manufacturing facility, and the threads advertised for use with the books were DMC in Books No. 1, 2, 3, and 5, and The American Thread Co. in Book No. 4.
Asmus Bradley Company produced an ivory colored tatting shuttle with a pick for sale with its distinctive diamond ABCo logo embossed on one side. I've seen one example described as French Ivory, and another good condition example she didn't say. Exact dimensions of either unknown. Thank you, Sheila Jones, for sharing your collection!
