SUMMARY- There is a mystery here. The books do not give us the designer's name, nor the copyright date. The excellent library at the University of Illinois was able to date the booklets through the copyright office. So far as I can tell, most thread manufacturers denied credit to the designers they published in order to suppress their ability to find other work in the industry with their competitors. If you made a name for yourself, you were much more desireable as a designer and could expect to be paid better. This practice is alive and well to this day, and I deplore it. Credit should always be given to the designers. Sadly, we may never know who the Asmus Bradley Company designer(s) were.

DMC imported cotton thread, size 40 was advertised as used to make the samples in the book.
