SUMMARY- So here's a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Who is Hilary Thornton? Why is it called "The Cashmere Series" when the pattern calls for No. 60 Mercer Cotton? Who distributed the series? She doesn't suggest any particular thread manufacturer's line of thread. How many were in the series? We know there are at least two. Are they all tatting designs, or are the others for knitters or crocheters? WHEN were they published? I'm guessing 1940ish, but I could be way off on that - the price seems high for a 1940s leaflet. It's a lovely collar, and my copy of this is in good enough shape to create a pdf of it for you(see below for link). If you know anything about this designer, when she published, and know anything about her other patterns, please drop me a line?
