NEEDLECRAFT PUBLISHING COMPANY
To my knowledge this magazine publisher only put out one book on tatting, but also published tatting patterns in the pages of its magazine. Until I get the catalog done, I won't be able to tell you if the patterns in this collection of books are from the pages of the magazine. The listing for the reviews is below along with all the other books I'm aware of that they produced for their "Home-Lovers' Library of Needlework, Handicraft and Home Decoration". I also have the volume 2 revised crochet book. Both have some gorgeous vintage patterns from a time period when there was a lot of competition for the average housewife's crafts money. I have not gotten to cataloging the magazine yet, even though I have managed to put together enough of them to justify doing so. The magazine is larger than "Life" magazine, and the archival materials are very costly for anything that size. I don't want to handle them a lot until I've bought enough supplies to properly archive them and keep them from deteriorating. The magazine began in 1909 and ended in the (very)early 1940's. It bought and absorbed other important magazines of the time like "Modern Priscilla"(June 1930 was MP's last issue) and "Comfort".
Leigh's Note: "Comfort" ran from 1888-1942 - others have stated that Needlecraft Publishing continued to publish "Comfort" for a few years under its own title before merging it with their own "Home Arts Needlecraft" shortly before ceasing publication entirely. This implies that "Needlecraft" has more issues than I've been able to find. My collection ends at April/May 1941. In 1941 they had gone to 8 issues a year subscription. If anyone has knowledge of any issues after that, please get in touch.
