Title: LACEWORK: Tatting Lace Corsage & Accessories
SUMMARY- Emiko Kitao is my favorite Japanese designer. The table of contents is in her native language, so I was unable to provide this. unfortunately, there is no English translation of Ms. Kitao's books(as of this writing(June 2015). There is the occasional English word thrown in, and the steps are in roman numerals - but the patterns themselves are all in Japanese. They are diagrammed, however, and that doesn't need to be translated! They are all small motifs and very engaging - tons of 3D work in this one too. The main theme is flowers - and she does a brilliant job of turning what looks like a bit of edging into the most gorgeous blossoms! Her corsages are beautiful. An experienced tatter will be able to figure out most of the patterns from the excellent photos and diagrams. My only disappointment was no monogram set in this one. She has a new and very different monogram set in each of her first three books, so I had eagerly anticipated a fourth. I admit she had spoiled me! She is still my favorite Japanese designer and in my top five all around. It's clear she's not afraid to experiment, and produces original designs that look like no one else's. I highly recommend any of her books. |
