DMC THREAD COMPANY- the "DMC" standing for "Dollfus-Mieg & Cie", of Mullhouse, France, is a thread manufacturer that was founded in 1746! The founder was Jean-Henri Dollfus, and it became one of the largest European textile manufacturers by the 20th century. It merged with Thiriez and Cartier-Bresson in 1961, was in serious decline by the end of the 20th century, and ultimately was liquidated in 2009. A British investment fund called BlueGem Capital Partners purchased what was left in Sept. 2016.
