Title: Tatting for Beginners and Experts
Author/Designer: Norma Benporath
Format/Publication Date: TPB:1940
Publisher: SEMCO, Black Rock, Australia
Page Count: 32
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 8" x 5 1/2"
ISBN: None
SUMMARY- The 2nd edition says it's revised, and 3rd edition is different from 2nd edition. 5th edition is differs from the first three editions - so I'm guessing the 4th edition will as well - I'll have to find it to find out. Mrs. Benporath was a very talented and prolific designer who published primarily in magazines and newspapers in Australia. Her only book and the SEMCO publications are highly sought after. Like Myrtle Hamilton, her life spanned a century that saw two World Wars, a pandemic(Spanish flu), the advent of nuclear power, television, faster cars - faster everything - medical miracles like vaccination, planes, satellites and a trip to the moon. Can you imagine? Both ladies kept an old and unique needleart alive and in use when very few people were turning their hand to it. Mrs. Benporath's patterns are beautiful and lasting tributes to the traditional art, and well worth seeking out.
I've now added the 1st edition to this review, with the attendant Table of Contents. Several of these were gifts from a friend who lives in Australia - thank you so much.
