SUMMARY- First, this is not a quilt book - the author illustrations look like parts of quilts with the shape of each state as a "patch" and things the state is famous for made to look like appliques machine-stitched down. That said, this is so cool! You get a brief story on how each individual state became a state, and there is a list of state facts near the back that gives you the date of becoming a recognized state, state slogan/nickname, state tree, state bird, state flower, fun fact, and state claim to fame. If you want to check your state quilt patterns against the facts(sometimes quilters occasionally get it wrong), this is the handy reference to check(as of 2005).
