SUMMARY- This isn't a long book, but it is packed with great visual tutorials for a wide variety of candles - some of which I haven't seen elsewhere. And I own a LOT of candle making books. He understands when to use stearine(and when not to), pays attention to safety, and is a big proponent of overdipping. I like overdipping too - but I'm a deeply committed candle-maker, and have the equipment and supply of wax to compfortably do so. Overdipping is a serious commitment of resources, because you have to have a pot(s) big enough, and enough wax to commit to be able to immerse whatever size candle you're making - in whatever color you need. Dipped candles are for people who are really serious about their candle-making. If you run across this book, I'd grab it. You'll find something new in it if you're an old hand, and the attention to detail he provides along with all the photos will give a newer candler the confidence to experiment with new techniques. Wax is wonderful stuff to play with, but needs to be respected. Mr Gick encourages the playfulness, and doesn't forget to respect his medium.
