SUMMARY- Someone(Harvey Emerson?) put a great amount of work into this document. It is by far the largest I own on the art of candlemaking. There are 42 lessons bound together with a normal paper punch and a shoelace. The lessons average around 9 pages. The lessons aren't titled, and there's no Index. Each lesson takes you through an aspect of candle-making. There are lots of photos and illustrations(all black-and-white), and he loves giving small history lessons throughout. I'm embarrassed I never ran across this remarkable document until over 50 years after it was released into the world. I've got to wonder how many lesson plans he sold. I've tried looking up the company and the Candle Institute online, hoping to run across some references, but no joy.
If you happen to know anything more about the Candle Institute, or Harvey Emerson, I'd love to hear more. There's got to be a story here...
NOTE- I discovered half-page ads for the Candle Institute in McCall's Needlework and Craft magazine from the mid-1960s.
