Title: Make Your Own Classic Bears: 14 Heirloom Designs
Author: Julia Jones
Publication Date: HC:1994
Publisher: Crescent Books, NY
Page Count: 112
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 11" x 8 1/2"
ISBN: 0517102056
PATTERN RATING: Patterns are well marked(except she didn't label them as to which bear the pattern pieces belong to, so you'll have to do that yourself), you get a really excellent variety of jointed bears, and they are modelled after well-known historical bears! So you may not be able to afford the antique original, but you can make a really lovely facsimile. Patterns are gridded for easy enlargement. She was mindful of the ditch(I have the hardcover), so it shouldn't be difficult to get an undistorted copy of the patterns on a copy machine.
INSTRUCTION RATING: Instructions are pretty well broken down, but more importantly have excellent photos at each step to support them.
SUMMARY- This is definitely a top shelf book - I highly recommend it for the variety of classic patterns, her instructions and explanations are top notch, and you get a bit of history along the way.
