Title: Costumed Teddy Bears: 14 Patterns for Bears in Body Suits
Author: Celia Baham
Publication Date: TPB:2001
Publisher: Portfolio Press, Cumberland, MD
Page Count: 144
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 11" x 8 1/2"
ISBN: 0942620542
PATTERN RATING: Pattern pieces are very well marked - not a single complaint! All the bears are shining with personality and there's a fantastic variety. These are the more complex gussetted and jointed bears, so experience would be helpful - maybe not a good idea for a first project, but there is a whole metric ton of inspiration here. Some of the pattern pieces approach the ditch, so it may be awkward/difficult to get a clean photocopy without damaging the spine of the book.
INSTRUCTION RATING: Instructions are very well broken down in easy steps, and are well supported with plenty of illustrations.
SUMMARY- This designer is top drawer. She has all sorts of interesting techniques for adding depth and personality to individual toys. Her book is worth picking up just to expand your own repertoire of skills - and she has a companion book!
The designer still has a website: http://www.celiasteddies.com/ .
