SUMMARY- This was a very interesting little find. I bought it in a lot with a Dutch booklet I've put under the publisher name "Uttgevers". Neither had a copyright date. But in reading the introduction, I got a few clues: "This may be partly due to the difficulties which war-time conditions have imposed on those who still employ their scanty leisure with this delightful hobby" and "I have seen experimental shuttles produced from the plastics which will play such a big part in the post war world". She discusses different types of shuttles and mentions the new American shuttle with a hook built into the end of the shuttle. She warns that it takes some getting used to. The patterns are in written notation and not broken down. The photos are small so you can get the overall effect, but can't count stitches. It is in English. I was very impressed with her design work, and happy that I lucked into this one to add to my collection. I'd love to know the story behind a Dutch and a New Zealand publication coming from the same needlewoman of the 1940s ending up in America.
