SUMMARY- I am so glad I ran across this treasure! It's one of those rarest of all things - a tatting book in hard cover. It shows many many samples of what can be accomplished with the stitch variations, goes over the history(and gives examples), and gives tutorial on creating your own designs! It's not really a pattern book, per se. There's a lot of inspiration in this book.
