SUMMARY- I bought this book thinking it was a translation of Emmy Liebert's work from its original German. It isn't. But it does include all the material from the two revised editions, so it wasn't a complete bust for me. She published during that sweet spot in American history when the needle arts had a small renaissance of designers putting out a huge volume of new designs. You get all four editions in this book:

Schiffchen-arbeiten (Frivolitaten), Band 36 (1916)
Schiffchen-arbeiten (Frivolitaten), Band 36 (1921?)expanded edition
Schiffchen-arbeiten Heft II, Band 40 (1920)
Schiffchen-arbeiten Heft II, Band 40 (1922)expanded edition

The only problem is page 38 got printed twice and page 37 is missing of the Schiffchen-arbeiten Heft II, Band 40(1920). If you have the Lacis edition, and want a replacement page, e-mail me(akamoraih[at]gmail.com) and I'll send you the pdf I made of it or download it using this link: LIEBERTp37

Emmy Liebert provides a lot of classic patterns and is generous with the photos to show how they might be used. The contrast of her threads shows she was a fan of colored threads. Unfortunately, the black-and-white photography doesn't allow her to show this to good effect. The patterns are in written (German) notation and there are no diagrams, so you would have to translate the instructions before using them if you are an English speaker.
