SUMMARY- The Kliots have been one of the champions bringing tatting back into popular use with their superb translations, republications, and collections. We owe them a debt of gratitude. This book was a treasure I'd originally overlooked, but am very glad I eventually found. Coronation cord was only produced for a very brief period(gone by 1920) but was used in almost all the needlecraft disciplines during the time it was produced. It is classified as a novelty braid, and looks kind of like the love child of chenille stems and a cotton swab. It was incorporated into a plethora of truly gorgeous and original needlework designs, including tatting. Jules Kliot speculates in his introduction that because it was primarily a German product, the war may have contributed to its disappearance. I found the cost of this book well worth the price of admission, and it is still available from the Lacis website as of this writing.
