SUMMARY- Emiko Kitao is my favorite Japanese designer. The table of contents is in her native language, so I was unable to provide this. unfortunately, there is no English translation of Ms. Kitao's books(as of this writing(May 2017). There is the occasional English word thrown in, and the steps are in roman numerals - but the patterns themselves are all in Japanese. They are diagrammed, however, and that doesn't need to be translated! They are all small motifs and very engaging. An experienced tatter will be able to figure out most of the patterns from the excellent photos and diagrams. There is no monogram set in this one, which was a small disappointment for me - I love her distrinctive monograms. This books theme is pairing tatting with crochet. You get fifteen(15) citrus/fruit applique motifs, fourteen(14) Flower Braids, a set of circle, square and triangle flower motifs, eight(8) bookmarks, two(2) card cases, two(2) Flower doilies, a set of coaster-size doilies(square, heart, circle, triangle), and two(2) table runners. It's clear she's not afraid to experiment, and produces original designs that look like no one else's. I highly recommend any of her books, including this one with the caveat that you will not be able to complete most of the patterns without being as confident with your crochet hook as you are with your shuttle.

Ms. Kitao's work is really worth pursuing if you like small motifs and can read modern diagrams.
