SUMMARY- I was able to locate an original copy of this one! It's in great shape for a 102 year-old book. The three page tatting lesson is the same one published in the second book, "The New Tatting of To-Day", but all the patterns are different. The covers were so similar, I had wondered for quite a while if the second book was just a revamped reprint of the first, but that is not the case. There was no Table of Contents, but I made one to make the list of patterns easier to peruse. Instructions for these patterns are written out, with lengthy directions on using the tatting. It's a nice collection of traditional patterns, and a serious effort to make the skill accessible to the novice.

I'm still looking for an original edition of the second book. I'm not happy with the quality of the PDFs we have available right now, but there's nothing I can do about it until I find an original copy that I can legally scan. I can now make a clean PDF of this book, though, so it is going on the TO DO list. Send me an e-mail if you need me to move it higher up in priority.
