SUMMARY- Pictures are big and clear enough you can count the stitches! Instructions are really well broken down and easy to read in symbolic notation. This is fairly traditional design work in ring and chain(no naked threads), and several split ring. I especially liked the Heart Lace edging - though my favorite heart of Betty's is still the one she did for the "USA Proud" banner.

It took a bit of sleuthing to track Betty down, but I'm so glad I persevered! She still teaches tatting in Northern Michigan and gives demos to promote the art.

Extra Notes: I ran across a copy of the original edition. The revisions were pretty extensive, and I don't think there were any patterns left out that were in the original edition, so if you buy the latest edition, you will have all the heart patterns. If you only have the original edition, it may be worth your while to buy the revised edition as well, as it has a few more patterns in it.
