SUMMARY- This is the only one of Betty's five books that hadn't been updated yet at the time of purchase. The cover shows a banner with three firecrackers on it, and three appliques. The appliques shown on the banner are not the tatted motifs of the patterns - not sure why she did it that way. All three tatted appliques look great - I especially like the heart. It isn't quite symmetrical(part of the design!) which gives it a more elegant look than most. That design really works gangbusters for me. You get nice big pictures of each motif that are clear enough you can count the stitches! Her instructions are in numeric notation and are well broken down and very easy to read.
It took a bit of sleuthing to track Betty down, but I'm so glad I persevered! She still teaches tatting in Northern Michigan and gives demos to promote the art.
