Title: Frivolité- xudozhestvennoe pletenie(Tatting- Artistic Knitting) Author/Designer: L.V. Demidova
Format/Publication Date: HC:2002
Publisher: ACT, Russia
Page Count: 158
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 8 1/2" x 6 1/2"
SUMMARY- She likes organic shapes and isn't fussed about hiding her ends, but she covers some advanced techniques(split ring, onion rings, mignonette, etc) and uses traditional tatting and color threads in an appealing way. She gives you diagrams from most of the patterns, and all the photography is in color. My only complaint is with the publisher, who printed the book on such thin paper that text and images from the other side of the pages tends to bleed through noticeably. She gives you quite a few collars and doilies, baskets, a Victorian era lady, some collage including a dove pattern that looks pretty good. All text is in Cyrillic, of course, but I'm still glad I bought this one. There are several pieces here that I want to try for myself.
