SUMMARY- I ran across one of Mrs. Bierwirth's snowflakes on ebay, and was so impressed with the design that I couldn't resist sending her an e-mail expressing my appreciation for it. It's not easy to get that many picots to behave! She sent a thank you note back, and mentioned she was also selling the patterns on Etsy - so of course I promptly went there and ordered the book. There is great photography, large print so I don't have to squint, and she uses written notation with lots of extra notes to make tatting the patterns easier for people who haven't been doing it for years. She doesn't provide diagrams or symbolic notation, though, so non-English speakers may have problems following the patterns if they are not experienced enough. Not all the patterns in the book are shown on the cover. These are patterns I think anyone with a grasp of just the basics could handle - and well worth trying. I loved all the designs, and her snowflakes and stars are going to get their own page in my snowflake sampler project. In fact, I loved her first book so much, I immediately ordered the other three books she had available, and I will certainly buy any others she puts out. If you haven't run across Lacemakermom on Etsy, you've missed out. I think she has a great talent for design. I highly recommend this book!
