SUMMARY- All interior photographs are black-and-white. I had no clue what a dummy or chimney board was until I read this - it's actually quite interesting. I considered leaving it up to you to go look it up, but felt if I were in your position, I'd be annoyed the reviewer didn't at least hand me a clue. So...a dummy or chimney board is a cutout of a person or animal and painted realistically to be used as an ornament in one's house or yard. The chimney board had the added useful feature of preventing sparks from the fireplace from catching the hearth run on fire. That's it in a nutshell.

Shire Publications always includes a reading list and a visitor or museum listing where you can see real examples of the subject matter of the issue. I love that feature of these books and think it's worth the price of admission all by itself!
