SUMMARY- This is a very very tiny kit with a nice magnetic fold out top and a compartment to hold the paper and scissors. Because you're cutting 6 thicknesses of paper for the kirigami flakes, I would not use the scissors the kit comes with - I think that would be a serious excercise in frustration and a waste of some very pretty papers. Despite this being a perfect stocking stuffer size(I'd have been wildly happy to have received this when I was a kid), it's not a great fit for a kid because the instructions are rather sketchy - there is no symbol legend or explanation of terms, and trying to follow the instructions and illustrations for the origami snowflake by step 9 left me confused. An experienced folder would likely have no problems, but a novice definitely would. The pale blue ink they printed the written instructions in also does not help if you have poor vision and are trying to avoid eye strain. You'll need a sharp pencil to draw the Kirigami designs freehand onto the folded paper before cutting - another skill that would take a good bit of practice and skill. So, overall a really cute idea but needs better execution of instructions, and bring your own kirigami/scherenschnitte scissors.
