PATTERN RATING:Star Rating. There's an interesting variety of patterns for different sorts of projects, but my focus, of course, is on soft toys - and this magazine had a surprising number. They are gridded for enlarging, all in one place in the middle of the magazine (so you could carefully pull them off the staples and blow them up on a photocopy machine... There's not a lot of markings typically(there are exceptions), but the toys without exception look great made up, and there are color photos of all of them.

INSTRUCTION RATING:Star Rating. Instructions were all over the place in quality. Some had illustrations to help the crafter, most didn't.

SUMMARY: What I didn't mention in either of the ratings was that organization of this magazine will drive you crazy. Their color photos are in one section, patterns in another, and instructions in yet another. They didn't publish the designer's names consistently (I had to hunt inside the articles or pull it off photo captions) - and I really like knowing who designed a piece. It's also a really inconvenient size to store(i.e.- it won't fit inside my normal magazine boxes, and photocopying patterns so I don't have to tear up the magazine can't be done on my letter-sized scanner). With that said, I loved this magazine enough to hunt down the rest of the issues in this run. They chose not to finance their magazine with revenues from ads, so all you get are patterns and interesting articles. I hunted down the first issue for the Colette Wolff pattern. I strongly recommend this issue just for that. There are also wonderful Jude Martin(no relation) patterns and a few Valerie Janitch, if you're a fan.

I debated whether to just enter the toy-related table of contents, but couldn't decide where to draw the line, so You got the whole table of contents.

I finally got the scans done, so all the covers should be up now!
