SUMMARY: I found the idea for this series interesting, and have had them sitting in a storage box for a while as I dealt with other materials. Here's the line-up of expert consultants they employed to create this 75-part series:

Jo Springer- Editor?
Pat Boyle- Editor?
Elisa Boness- Dressmaking
Rae Compton- Knitting and Crochet
Eileen Lowcock- Embroidery and Needlepoint
Mary Konior- Tatting
Ann Mary Pilcher- Net Embroidery
Pamela Peake- Toy Making
-

When I got them out again and started looking more closely at them, I was delighted to discover that Mary Konior was their tatting consultant and Pamela Peake was featured! I've long been an admirer of Ms. Konior's designs and spent way way too much money acquiring her difficult to find books. I spent more money acquiring those than I did for most of my collection combined! The idea behind this series was to provide easy to read and follow instructions for a wide spectrum of hand crafts having to do with wardrobe and decorating your home. Each issue would add another "How To" chapter to build on the previous ones until you were an expert at a given craft. There are various projects sprinkled throughout the series for you to practice your newly acquired skills. The chapters and projects are not directly attributed to specific designers, hence my listing them here in the review and summary section.

If you're looking for hip fashions from the 70's, then this is a great resource. Ditto for basic info on various skills, though they concentrated primarily on Sewing Clothes, Embroidery, Knitting and Crochet. The other disciplines were sort of sprinkled across the entire run with no real rhyme or reason why a particular discipline would be featured every once in a while. The toymaking chapters didn't do what I wanted them to, which was teaching how to design your own patterns.

I attempted to put together a full run of this title from several different lots. Boy was That a mistake. They reprinted it at least once, and I think maybe twice, changing out different chapters, the cover picture, and projects. I guess it is good in one way - I can warn you about this problem. I've finally completed a run, and found out "Golden Hands" produced a sequel called:
"Golden Hands New Guide" for which I have also finally put together a complete run.

"Golden Hands" produced a sequel called:
"Golden Hands New Guide" which I don't currently have, but it covered a wider range of crafts like Batik, Beadweaving, Candlemaking, Enameling, Mola Work, and Weaving as well as the standards it covered in the first series. I don't know how many parts there were.
