PATTERN RATING: Star Rating. This is an unfair rating, since this isn't a pattern book, per say. It has a rating because it does explain what shape the fabric is before manipulating it.

INSTRUCTION RATING:Star Rating. This book is the best I've ever come across in getting across how to do what you see in the picture. And the pictures are stunning. I thought I knew quite a lot about sewing before I read this book. When I'm looking to try and create a particular effect, this is the book I grab to look for a technique that will give me the look I want. Ms. Wolff has never failed me. This book was ambitious in its scope and stunning in its execution. It also doesn't hurt that she has a dab hand when it comes to organization. I don't care what kind of sewing you like to do, this book is indispensable.

MECHANICS RATING:Star Rating. This is the ultimate how-to book for seamsters. It not only shows you what the result of any particular sewing technique will look like, it goes into enough detail on how to do the technique to make it work for you. I like to collect 'bibles' for various crafts, and this is my number one for sewing techniques. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Colette Wolff.
