PATTERN RATING:Star Rating Huge variety of patterns. Pieces are by and large unmarked and are often lapping, so you'll need to make several photocopies of a page and cut carefully. There is plenty of detail to give real personality to all of the toys. The toys are made up from felt, with embroidery used to enhance details and give them faces. Most of the dolls are stump dolls(no legs or feet).

INSTRUCTION RATING:Star Rating Instructions are brief with a little bit of illustration to help the crafter.

BONUS MECHANICS RATING:Star Rating I'm giving this book an extra star for it's creativity, section on how to use the embroidered expressions to convey a wide range of emotions, and attention to fine details that add a lot of personality to each small toy.

SUMMARY- I counted 156 different dolls/toys, not including the 12 dolls used to show how to embroider emotions. There is an amazing variety of very cute small toys with tons of personality built into them. They would make for a very popular bazaar stall, if only bazaar's weren't such a thing of the past. I know my ratings for this book are strictly average, but while the objective criteria may not impress, the subjective(artistic) criteria makes me very happy I chanced upon this book. I highly recommend it - especially if you're looking to make a variety of stocking stuffers or toys that can be played hard with without a lot of time and expensive materials being lost. I can't recommend it for kids who are still chewing on their toys, but for a little older with active imaginations, this book is perfect.
