Title: Knitted Toys: 21 Easy-to-Knit Patterns for Irresistible Soft Toys
Author: Fiona McTague
Publication Date: HC:2004
Publisher: Barron's Educational Series, Inc., Hauppauge, NY
Page Count: 112
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 11 1/2" x 8 3/4"
ISBN: 0764157663
PATTERN RATING: There's a great variety of patterns here, from small finger puppets that could fit in a pocket to comfortably sized soft dolls and animals for cuddling.
INSTRUCTION RATING: Instructions are broken down by parts and rows, which I don't think can be improved upon. You get front facing photos only, but they are page-sized and full color. There's not a lot of illustration to go with the instructions, so you should already be comfortable with knitting before using this book.
SUMMARY- Overall I was impressed with this book. The toys are very engaging and there's a great variety. She rates the skill level needed for each project to give you a better idea if you're ready to tackle it. Her large teddy bear has a strong Winnie-the-Pooh vibe going, and the print on the instructions are large enough I don't have to squint to read them - a big plus for those of us who are sight challenged. I liked this book.
