PATTERN RATING:Star Rating Patterns are all full-size and very well marked. You get a variety of bear toys and not just one pattern in different costumes. You also get a graduated level of difficulty as promised. There's a section near the back of full-color photos of her projects that shows the details off really well, as well as black/white photos with the projects so you know what project you're looking at.

INSTRUCTION RATING:Star Rating She breaks her instructions down in an interesting way, not so much as body parts and numbered steps, but everything you can pin together at first, then stitch, then pin again, then stitch, etc. I see what she's doing, and I think it works. She has illustrations throughout.

BONUS MECHANICS RATING:Star Rating Ms. Maddigan gets a bonus star here for some of the techniques I've not seen anywhere else in her advanced section. She has an impressive repertoir.

SUMMARY- I am not a teddy bear fan, and yet I'm continually impressed with the quality and expertise brought to teddy bear craft books. This book has great patterns that are different enough to be interesting, and she gives a huge variety of techniques to use to individualize your bear. She's clearly a master of her craft, and it shows.
