Title: An Easy-to-Make Godey Doll with Instructions and Ready-to-Use Patterns for a Complete Wardrobe Author: Genevieve P. Jones
Publication Date: Booklet:1977
Publisher: Dover Publications, Inc., NY
Page Count: 28
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 11" x 8 1/2"
PATTERN RATING: Patterns are all collected in the middle of the booklet on newsprint weight pages. Patterns don't cross the ditch, are very well marked except for grainline, and you get the doll plus a full wardrobe from skin out, including corset. All the patterns look fantastic made up, and she gives you the Godey's Lady's Book plates she used to make the patterns from, which I thought was very cool.
INSTRUCTION RATING: Instructions are broken down into numbered steps and have a little illustration to go with them.
SUMMARY- I "met" the designer in an on-line chat group and really liked the dolls she had put pix up of in her photo file, so I went looking for one of her books. I'm really glad I did! Her patterns are well researched and deftly executed, and she happily shares her sources. Ms. Jones also had one of her dolls(Alicia) featured on the premiere issue cover of Doll World magazine, and published several articles with them. I haven't started putting together a full run of this magazine yet, but it's moved up on the list...
