PATTERN RATING: Star Rating. Patterns are gridded and will have to be enlarged quite a bit to be useful. Seam allowance is not part of the pattern shown and is a nonstandard (3/8") size - well, at least for the US. Maybe that's the standard in Australia. I don't own enough Australian books to know for sure. The patterns aren't particularly well marked for sewing, either, although the pictures shown of the patterns made up are fairly engaging. I particularly liked the dolphin and badger.

INSTRUCTION RATING:Star Rating. Instructions are step-by-step, but they skip things they felt were obvious, so if you don't already know what you are doing, you may have some bad moments trying to follow some of these. On the other hand, where a photograph would be useful for a construction step, they often give you one.

SUMMARY- This book is all about making the toys shown, and not about toy design, and it does what it sets out to do pretty well. It has a good bit of variety packed into its 64 pages.
