PATTERN RATING:Star Rating. Patterns have to be enlarged, but are gridded to help the crafter. There are seam allowances and other markings where appropriate. These patterns are for home decor, rather than toys for kids, and many of them are quite stunning. I was particularly taken with the magnolia blossoms and the autumn harvest vegetables.

INSTRUCTION RATING:Star Rating. Instructions are broken down into steps, but aren't as detailed as they could be. There are illustrations to go with the instructions. She has pattern categories broken down from simple to complex, and book is nicely organized.

MECHANICS RATING:Star Rating. There is a brief chapter that goes into what elements inform a new design that is worth reading.

SUMMARY- If you are interested in soft sculpture as an art form, this book should probably be on your shelf.
