PATTERN RATING:Star Rating Most of the patterns have to be enlarged, but they make it really easy by giving you the photocopy enlarge settings to use - my favorite method of enlarging a pattern, even though it means a trip to the copy shop. Pattern markings varied depending on the designer. i.e.- the publisher didn't hold everyone's feet to the fire to standardize markings for the book. There are a few patterns that are a little skimpy in this regard, but for the most part, there's plenty of markings to aid the crafter. There's a nice variety in all sizes.

INSTRUCTION RATING:Star Rating Photo illustrated basic instructions for sewing and constructing a bear are given at the beginning of the book, including a really nice section on the importance of nose shapes and the dramatic variations in expression you can achieve with just this one aspect. With each bear, you get the designer's personal notes on using their design. Many of them give you further illustration as well.

SUMMARY- The names in parentheses below the bear entries were added by me from the acknowledgment section, so you'd know who designed the bears in this book. It's a really lovely showcase with a wide variety of talented artists and well worth the read. The photography is wonderful. The publisher put all the designer's names right after the Table of Contents page, rather than with the Table of Contents - but you also got a little paragraph blurb about the designers.
