Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 10 1/4" x 9"

PATTERN RATING: Star Rating. All the patterns are full-size, marked with the seam allowance, have notches, the a-b-c lettering AND dots for matching points on the pattern pieces. There are also placement marks for all the features. These are first rate patterns and designed to be used even if you can't find the instructions. The book is mainly about animal puppets (the stuffed toys are a small section in the back of the book), so back paws are nonexistent and front paws are rudimentary BUT she usually has each puppet made up in several different types of fur/fabric to show what you can do with the pattern and the faces are not only clearly the animal she says it is, they have a lot of personality.

INSTRUCTION RATING:Star Rating. Ms. Dolan gives clear instructions and good illustrations - and her last instruction is always "play with the puppet"!

SUMMARY- This book isn't about designing your own patterns, but she goes into a great deal of detail on how to choose suitable fabrics for projects and will no doubt save new crafters money and frustration if they'll pay attention to what she tells them. The book especially has a lot of detailed information about working with fake fur. I'd buy any other books Ms. Dolan puts out on the strength of this one, sight unseen.
