Title: Easy-to-Sew Toys: Book No. S-14 Author: J&P Coats
Publication Date: BOOKLET:1944
Publisher: The Spool Cotton Co.
Page Count: 15
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 10 3/4" x 7 3/4"
PATTERN RATING: . All patterns are full size. They have basic markings, except for the seam allowance, which you are supposed to add as you’re cutting the pieces out. I've never liked this technique, mostly because I'm terrible at judging an exact 1/4" allowance by eye and tend to wobble a bit. The toys have a 1 1/2" band to give them dimension instead of true gussets, which gives them a really unique look that isn't unpleasing. They make the toys poseable by sewing the limbs on with big coat buttons as joint hinges, and smaller buttons for the eyes. These are unique looking toys with a vintage feel.
INSTRUCTION RATING:. Instructions are broken down by body parts, and have very little illustration to go with them. If you're a novice sewer, you may wish to start with a different project.
SUMMARY- This short booklet is about making the toys they present to you, and nothing else (there really is no room!). I was glad to get this book, simply because the toys were so different from anything else I'd seen to this date.
