SUMMARY- This isn't a pattern book, though it has one reproduction pattern in back as a bonus. This is a loosely organized reference book to advertisements for cloth dolls in various antique/vintage magazines. It doesn't cover the major pattern manufacturers like Butterick, McCalls, Style, etc. It doesn't have an index or Table of Contents, but the ads ARE organized into distinct sections and you get some text with the magazine and issue date of the ad and other little bits of related information. If you're looking for something specific, you'll have to search carefully, and know what you're looking for. She's packed a whole lot into these 69 pages. It is a nice bit of collected nostalgia and a cool look at the styles of the past.

This author has done other books - primarily on Shirley Temple dolls and memorabilia. She may well have been Miss Temple's biggest fan, reading the amount of material she published about this actress! Ms. Burdick sent a catalog of her other published works with the book, so I got to take a peek at everything else she's done. I'm adding an entry to the magazine bibliography for her "Celebrity Doll Journal" which sounds interesting as well - and is apparently still ongoing!
